In a personal note I wrote for my newsletter recently, I recounted some of my professional accomplishments during the first half of 2016. It was satisfying to review the good I contributed to others. And afterward, because I had directed my thoughts this way, more great things, lovely things, came to mind, both professionally and personally.
Like the look of excited wonder on the children’s faces as I told them the story of My Son Dave (the Duck) on a visit to the Mesa Boys & Girls Club; the magical moments in Hawaii with my mom, watching the sun’s slow setting over the Pacific Ocean; the overflowing joy upon the announcement of my son Mitchell and his beloved Rhobyn’s engagement … so many blessings to be thankful for!
However, I experienced some tough challenges, as well.

My road to physical recovery after breaking my leg in June of 2015 continues to be a circuitous one and often an uphill trek. In January, we said goodbye to dear Francis, our kitty companion of 14 years, after her long battle with thyroid disease and cancer.
Right now my husband and I are navigating the daunting transition of moving house after 30 years. And, yes, there are also regrets for me about missed opportunities and less than stellar choices.
But, here’s the thing …
Both the successes and challenges have served me greatly. I am bolstered and gratified by the things that have gone well and cherish the joyful memories I have created. And I am learning from the things that have tested my stamina and resolve.
Bringing awareness to the spectrum of our life experiences is an opportunity to evaluate, appreciate or change. Moving into the second half of this year is a perfect time to do so.
I invite you to take some quiet time to reflect back on your last six months and consider the memorable moments and counted blessings, as well as the missteps and challenges you faced. What are these experiences telling you about your journey?
Life isn’t just about barreling forward. Stop. Take a breath. Learn from your Life and then move forward to building a better, richer, more integrated one. That’s my plan.
Many blessings, Plynn
