#PoetryMonth – Chicken Little vs. The Gerbera Daisy

Chicken Little vs. The Gerbera Daisy
by Plynn Gutman

Everywhere the sky is falling
into little shards, unfulfilled
dreams drowning in muddy
puddles of greed or mismanagement

But see the strength
in the hollow stem of a Gerbera daisy,
burnt sienna petals open
wide to morning sun;

We need such boldness now –
only how to allay our fear
when it takes up so-much-space,
choke-holding fortitude?
